The media attack on Christianity

To me this has never been about the first amendment. It's never been about a man losing his job over what he said.  To me it always has been the fact that the media is turning the teachings of Christianity into hate speech. The religion of 2.18 billion people became nothing more than liberal blasphemy. The religion this country was built on is now just a book of uneducated red neck ramblings that puts down and hates everyone. Yes I understand times have changed and everyone should except everyone else's life style, but the bible has stood the test of time and remained true to the word of God that teaches us to love and respect all people regardless of their lifestyle. So you say we hate but in all actually we just love you. 

Replies from my representatives on gun control

With the recent events in this country including shootings and talks of gun and magazine bans I thought I would take the time to write to my locale representatives and voice my opinions. I am a strong supporter of the second amendment and i am glad at least some of my elected officials feel the same way. So far I received one reply. I'm sure all senators and congressmen are being inundated with letters and emails so one well written email reply was more than I expected. Here is what Lamar Alexander wrote to me.

Dear Drew,

Thank you for sharing your feelings regarding the tragic shootings in Newtown, Connecticut. I was horrified by this attack that left twenty-eight dead. My thoughts and prayers are for the victims and those who now live with their loss.

As we learn more about the tragedy in Newtown, I think we must look closely at the behavior of isolated young men who develop an obsession with violence. We should ask the leaders of the entertainment industry whether they would want their children--or those who might harm their children--to watch the increasingly violent video games and movies that they pour into our culture. This is not the only cause of violence in our society but it is one important cause. Connecticut has strong gun laws. The problem is not with the gun but with the person pulling the trigger.

This is a terrible event for our nation and we must find appropriate ways to respond. I’m grateful you’ve shared your reactions with me and will keep them in mind as we move forward.
